The Power of a Brand Pattern
Do I need a brand pattern for my business?
In short, the answer is no. You do not need a pattern to complete your brand, but it may be an awesome addition to help build your brand. Not only are patterns fun to look at but they may reinforce your brand in many ways. Here are a few:
Eye catching visuals hep your brand stand out
Differentiate products or sections of your business
Enhance brand recognition
Make your marketing collateral more impactful
How do I know if my business would benefit from a brand pattern?
Consult with a seasoned graphic designer. Sometimes other visual elements may be more impactful than a pattern. It all depends on that individual brand. I recently did a rebranding for a financial consulting business whose brand I felt benefitted more from color blocking and large, protruding icons. This takes the place of a pattern in that brand.
How to design a brand pattern for your business.
Your brand pattern should fit seamlessly into your brand. It should share the same color pallet, theme, and style. When someone sees your brand pattern, it should become recognizable as a piece of your brand. Your pattern should evoke the appropriate emotions and support your business’ mission.
Your pattern can include icons, illustrations, typography, and more. Next time you go to Chipotle, before indulging in your burrito, take a minute to appreciate their brand patterns all over their packaging. You may see patterns on their bags, parchment paper lining, cups, gift cards, and more. They use a mix of icons, illustrations, and typography.
Your best option would be to hire a graphic designer. They have the trained eye as well as the knowledge to design a fractal and scalable pattern.
